Favorite Kids Books July 2021

I swear, I’m not trying to be a book blog, we just LOVE books in our home! I’ve decided to start sharing, monthly, the books Jack has me reading over and over again, and maybe your family will find a new favorite book too!

Baby Medical School: Vaccines - Cara Florance & Jon Florance

A friend of mine shared this book on Facebook as part of her family’s own collection, and I ordered it right away for our own library! For those that don’t know, I am a clinical research nurse, and I absolutely believe in the importance and validity of vaccines, and I think this book is an adorable, understandable introduction to the world of vaccines! It explains how vaccines work in a fun, colorful way. Jack and I have fun wagging our fingers and saying “Bad Guys!” on the page where all the viruses are in a line-up.

Pink is for Boys - Robb Pearlman

Pink is for boys, and girls, and all colors are for everyone!! This book is a fun way to remind kids that colors are gender-neutral and for everyone. We can all wear and like whatever colors we want!

Super Pooper and Whizz Kid Potty Power - Eunice Moyle and Sabrina Moyle

I got this book just because I thought the name and cover were hilarious, but Jack really seems to enjoy this book, and I feel it really does a great job of explaining how to use the potty. I especially think it does a great job explaining the feelings associated with having to go to the bathroom (like having a rumble in your bumble or a dance in your pants!). We’re not necessarily at the point of potty training yet, but Jack is starting to show interest, so I will read this book again and again to help him get the idea!

Baby loves Gravity - Ruth Spiro

As you can see, this book is a bit beat up; we’ve had it for a while and Jack keeps coming back to it again and again! I’ve even shared it here on my blog before on my Diversity in Children’s Books post back in February! I love educational books for young kids. I really think kids are a lot smarter than we often give them credit for, and their little sponge brains will big up simple forms of big concepts if we just introduce them. Gravity is a big concept, but this book explains it in such a cute and simple way, and Jack really loves when I make the puppy “slurp” sound. There are tons of other books in the “Baby Loves” series, and hopefully we’ll eventually own them all!
