Reunion - Hannah Pittard

This is a book that has been sitting on my end table since we lived in our apartment. Which means I’ve been trying to read this for over three years. I just couldn’t get into it when I first bought it, and would just skip over it any time I needed something new to read. I finally decided to really hunker down at read it this month, and I’m glad I did! I don’t know why I couldn’t get into the book before, but I enjoyed it this time. It was kind sad, about a woman around my age who goes through some major life changes and has to face issues she’s been suppressing for a while. I don’t know if I would necessarily recommend this book, but it was a good read.

The Other Mrs. - Mary Kubica

This was my book club pick for this month, and I have to be honest - I really wasn’t into it that much. It was hard for me to actually sit down and read it, I wound up listening to the audiobook and sped it up just so I could finish it in time for my book club! I could tell exactly what the first twist in the story was going to be right off the bat. I was not at all engaged with the characters in this book, and if the main character “put her hand to her mouth” one more time I was going to scream. I think I will enjoy the Netflix show when it comes out, but the book was just not for me.

Siege and Storm - Leigh Bardugo

Ruin and Rising - Leigh Bardugo

I’m going to talk about these two together, since obviously, they are the second and third books in the same series. I really liked the second book, and I liked the introduction of Nikolai in Siege and Storm, he is probably my favorite character in the whole book - just funny and tries to do what is right all the time. I felt the last book was too long, but also the end happened so quick that it was eventually just over. Overall, I liked this trilogy, but not enough to give the other books in the “Grisha-verse” a read.

I felt the last book was too long, but also the end happened so quick that it was just over and it felt a bit unclimactic. Overall, I liked this trilogy, but not enough to give the other books in the “Grishaverse” a read.

Sadie - Courtney Summers

This is my least favorite book this month, which stinks because my sister really loved it and recommended it to me! I think I didn’t enjoy it because I listed to it on audiobook and there was a full cast of characters and it went in and out of sounding like it was a podcast…. it was just bizarre and I couldn’t stay interested at all.
