Beauty Must-Haves January 2021

I absolutely LOVE beauty products, from hair care to skin care to makeup. I have staples I always use, and new things I try whether it was suggested to me, I read about it on a blog, or received it in a beauty box of some sort. Monthly I will share my current favorites, from old faithfuls to new finds!

CHARLOTTE TILBURY MINI PILLOW TALK LIP KIT - I found my PERFECT nude lip a few years ago when I took a trip to Vancouver and was able to get my hands on the Canada-exclusive MAC x Samantha Ravndahl lipstick. And then I lost it. So I’ve been on the hunt for my perfect nude again, and came across it after buying this lip kit on a whim with a Sephora gift card I had. Oh. Em. Gee! This Charlotte Tilbury lipstick is the PERFECT pinky-nude, and this mini liner and lipstick are perfect for throwing in my work bag because yes I still wear lipstick for Zoom meetings!!

AQUAPHOR ADVANCED THERAPY HEALING OINTMENT - Ok, so my hands get SO gross in the winter months. I keep meaning to set up an appointment with a dermatologist because I think I may have been blessed with psoriasis like my Mom. I am, however, able to get some relief with Aquaphor, which I discovered by using Jack’s baby aquaphor to sooth my hands. I needed something to keep at work and on the go, and the two-pack of these advanced therapy minis are PERFECT.

CLARINS BRIGHT PLUS - Because I’m in my 30’s and tanning was the “cool” thing when I was in my teens so sunscreen was optional back then, I’ve started getting some sunspots on my face which were only exacerbated by the hormones during pregnancy. I didn’t feel safe using any type of correcting serum during pregnancy or while I was breastfeeding, but finally this past year I decided it was time to see if anything out there could get rid of the melasma that I felt so self-conscious about. I tried a few things, and I’m pretty meticulous with my skin care routine so I was quite consistent, but nothing worked until I was recommended this Clarins serum by an employee at my local Ulta. It is a bit pricey, but man oh man, I feel it is WORTH IT. The dark spots on my cheeks and forehead have DRASTICALLY diminished, and the best part is, you really only need a drop or two, so this small bottle lasts a while. I cannot rave about this enough. $80USD at Ulta.com.

COLOURPOP GOING COCONUTS - So I have an obsession with Colourpop, and I own way more makeup from them than I’d honestly like to admit. It’s kind of a problem, but it’s a problem my husband encourages. For Christmas he got me State of Play vault and the Fall Into Hue palette. I LOVE to play with makeup and do some colorful, wild looks, but they’re not always something I can wear every day. The Going Coconuts palette, however, is the perfect neutral palette for day to day looks. I find myself grabbing for it more often than not when I want to make myself look put together and refreshed. If there’s every a time I want to add a little smokiness to my look, the darker shades would be perfect for that. This goes for $14USD on Colourpop’s website.
